CAROLINA ORTEGA ist eine in Berlin lebende venezolanische Dramatikern, Dramaturgin und Regisseurin. Sie absolvierte ihren Master in Theaterregie und Dramaturgie an der Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts und studierte zudem Literatur und Kreatives Schreiben an der University of London. Zudem wurde sie am LISPA in London in Körpertheater ausgebildet. Zu ihren Lehrern zählen u.a. John Mowat, Mick Barnfather, Lee Delong, Lorna Marshall und Philippe Gaulier. Von 2008-12 war Ortega Kuratorin und Co-Leiterin des Lateinamerikanischen Theaterfestivals CASA in London. Als Autorin kollaboriert sie regelmäßig mit dem Teatro San Martín in Caracas, Venezuela. Als Regisseurin arbeitet sie mit Flight of the Escales und Ihre letzte Stück 'No Way Out' hat im Ballhaus Ost im Februar premiered. Als Dramaturgin arbeitete sie mit dem Tangram Theatre, Alex Carrillo (DE/KO), Enrico Wey (USA/DE), Once We Were Islands (DE/UK), Nassim Soleimanpour (Iran) and Jesper Pedersen (Dänemark).

Carolina is a writer, dramaturg and director based in Berlin. She studied directing, literature and Creative Writing. As a performer she has trained with LISPA, John Mowat, Mick Barnfather (Complicite), Philippe Gaulier and SMASH Berlin.

Between 2008 and 2012 she worked as Programmer and co-director for CASA Latin American Theatre Festival. Other dramaturgy credits include Tangram Theatre Company, Idreman, Alex Carrillo, a.o. As a devising director, she's worked with Swedish Duo Scandimaniacs, performer John Hinton, Martin Auckland, Florencia Cordeu, Caroline Horton and Idreman.

She has also worked as creative producer and literary consultant at the Bush Theatre and as a general manager and facilitator with Islington community theatre. As an educator she's worked with Kid's Company, Future Scripts, Skinner's Academy, a.o.

She's currently developing work with her Berlin based company, The Mango Society, and works with Flight of the Escales, Alex Carrillo and Valerie Renay.
